Windows 101

Window shopping is easy when you know what to look for. You’ll find many styles, shapes, features and glass packages when looking for windows and doors. But deciding on the perfect choice for your home and family is simple. Just take your time and assess your needs.

Consider which style will best suit your home and your family, what thermal performance features will be ideal for your climate, and which glass options will be most appropriate. After you’ve figured out the basics, have fun with the glass and grid options as well as unique hardware choices.

Why Choose Vinyl?

When it comes to windows and doors, vinyl is an all-around excellent choice. Unlike wood, vinyl will never rot or require endless repainting. And unlike aluminum, vinyl will never pit or flake. Our vinyl windows and doors are made from the highest quality vinyl and require almost no maintenance. In fact, an occasional washing will keep them looking like new for years. Plus, they offer increased comfort, lower utility bills, provide headache-free operation and add value to your home. You can’t get much better than that.

  • Increased Comfort Our vinyl windows and doors offer excellent thermal performance for year-round comfort and to help lower utility bills.
  • Easy Operation Our windows and doors open and close easily for maximum performance with minimum effort.
  • Weatherability Vinyl used in our windows and doors can stand up to extreme weather conditions year after year.
  • Energy Efficiency Vinyl is an effective insulator. Our vinyl profiles are specially designed to work with advanced glass packages for optimum energy efficiency.
  • Value Not only do our windows and doors help to lower home utility bills, they also add value to your home.

Energy Efficiency

We understand that energy efficiency is more important than ever. That’s why we are continuously looking for ways to make our windows and doors as thermally efficient as possible. From the materials we use and the glass packages we offer, we’ve got you covered when it comes to energy efficiency.

Spacer Systems

Our windows and doors feature unique spacer systems. Made of highly thermally prohibitive materials, these are placed between the glass panes and further reduce temperature transfer.

Intercept Spacer System

  • Unique U-channel design minimizes conduction for increased efficiency and comfort.
  • Durable long-lasting design
  • U-shaped design flexes and contracts, reducing seal failure in the insulating glass unit.

Glass Coatings

Our windows and doors are available with LoE 366. A transparent metallic oxide coating, applied to the surface of glass which allows for short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency.

Aragon Gas Filled

The space inside an insulating glass unit—between the glass panes—may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air. This acts as an added barrier for a higher level of efficiency.

Laminated Glass

Some glass packages contain laminated glass. A transparent interlayer is adhered to a pane of glass, acting as a barrier against energy loss, noise reduction and forced entry.

Fusion Welded REHAU Vinyl

REHAU’s revolutionary uPVC virgin vinyl is among the most durable, environmentally friendly solutions on the market. By incorporating titanium dioxide, the brilliant bright white will never fade and the vinyl will never warp, pit, or shift. By fusion-welding all four corners of the window frame and sash, you’re offered the strongest, most durable window unit on the market.

Weather-stripping

While most windows use only one or two, our vinyl windows feature three separate weather- strips to protect against dust, pollen, germs, and air infiltration. Two fin-seal weather-strips are set in place on either side of the inset track, and the third is applied directly to the sash, allowing the frame’ s grooves and tracks to stay much cleaner over time.

SuperSpacer

Originally developed by NASA, the Edge-Tech Super Spacer is a revolutionary insulation system designed to virtually eliminate the transfer of heat and cold through the glass unit, thereby eliminating condensation, mold, and higher energy bills. The acrylic seal bonds the super spacer to the glass permanently, forming the tightest glass seal unit on the marker while the mylar film protects the glass from the hot melt butyl.

Weep Hole & True Slope

A one-way exit for moisture, the weep hole’s patented trap door does not permit anything inside the window frame. Most other competitors simply leave an exposed hole as a means of drainage, letting in water, air, pollen, dust, and insects. Our trap door system is accompanied by our True Slope Chamber, a feature inside the frame which directs any water out the weep hole, instead of allowing it to settle in the frame or flow toward the walls of the house.

Deep Set Sash (Full 1 Inch)

Our main frames are extruded with a deep, one-inch inset track to house the sash. This design allows the sash to be completely covered with the same reveal on both the interior and exterior of the window. Having the deep one-inch track surrounding both sides lessens air and water infiltration along with outside noise. In addition, the deep-set frame cradles and secures the sash, making it more difficult to force entry.
